Straight or curved?
The straight is for face work in tight spots — trimming around the eyes, cleaning up muzzles, working between pads, and tidying sanitary areas. The short 5.5" blade gives you control in the places where a longer shear would feel reckless.
The curved is for the same close work, but on rounded surfaces — the curve of an ear leather, around the eye orbitals, along the contour of a paw. If you find yourself using round-tip shears more often on heads than on feet, the curved version fits those movements better.
Many groomers carry both and use them interchangeably depending on the dog and the spot.
