Elephant Skin
Ever come across those poor pets with the elephant skin, covered with crusties and leaky hot spots? As a groomer “I have”, way too often! The owners of these pets are usually very frustrated and at their wits end. These animals are usually very itchy and irritable, to the point of desperation. We, groomers have seen some of the most severe cases in our shops. These are the questions that I like to ask the customer after they present their pets to me:
- have they been to their vet and completed all the tests to rule out the obvious?
- have they tried getting a professional opinion regarding their pet’s diet? To rule out possible food allergies etc…
- What else, if anything, have they tried?
Don’t give up yet!!! The next step can be to address the problem as a skin & coat issue/ disease. It is also very important to have your pet on the right skin & coat program. This is an inexpensive way to try and repair the skin & coat. We have had amazing results on many of these pets with Nature’s Specialties Tar & Sulfur Shampoo. I and many other Groomers have managed to get pets with some of the most severe skin issues off of prednisone and other drugs with this simple treatment. Nature’s Specialties Products are made from nothing but the best ingredients, they are natural, non-toxic and biodegradable. To obtain optimal results from our medicated shampoo’s we recommend that after applying let it sit on the skin for at least 10 minutes before rinsing. Tar & Sulfur Shampoo has a dilution ratio of 6 to 1. Do not mix more than you will use for the present bath. Nature’s Specialties products are biodegradable & will start to break down after they are diluted. The Tar Shampoo works as an anti-itch, anti-fungal and stops hair loss. ALWAYSfollow with the Aloe Re-Moisturizer, because you are actually leaching all the bad stuff & a significant amount of moisture from the skin & coat with this process. You will have to replace the moisture that you remove. Leave Aloe Re-Moisturizer on for 10 minutes. I sometimes wrap the pet in a towel and it replaces a hot oil treatment.
Blowing Coat????
Are you a Professional Dog Show Handler? Just a month or weeks before a show, has your TOP DOG started blowing its coat. Guess what? You can head it off at the pass. The Tar shampoo stop hair loss. It doesn’t grow hair but it will actually stop the hair loss! Made with USP Bio Sulfur & Refined Topical Coal Tar. Stops hair loss and aids in the relief of psoriasis. May also be used on “scratches”, a fungus found on horses legs. DO NOT USE ON CATS. Always follow with Re-Moisturizer.
